Graytower
Graytower
Campaign style: free-form (world-building)
Players: Hammer – “Regent Stephanos Armanté”
Setting: Frontier region
Style: Graytower is a pure world-building campaign that very few people would likely enjoy, but the two involved find fascinating. This campaign has quickly become a basis for a vast amount of new rules regarding the economy and resources. Since it is a play-by-email campaign, and since it is so in depth (often having week-long debates on new rules, personnel choices, etc.), it progresses very slowly at times. After playing it for about 3 years, roughly 45 days have passed in game.
Summery: Stephanos Armanté was born into the reasonably well respected House Armanté trading family. When his family was one of the few to show support to a disliked foreign noble, they were shunned… but when that foreign noble became a war hero and was rewarded with land and title, House Armanté was also well rewarded. The new Baroness needed someone to run her land, and came to her supporters, and Stephanos was chosen as the new Regent. He gathered his most trusted people and ventured out from the comfortable capital city, hundreds of miles to the country’s border in the northeast and the ruins of an old town, now his to rebuild.
Currently the Regent finds himself involved over his head in political issues that he doesn’t fully understand (a riot in the largest nearby city (and seat of the Duchess), an extortion conspiracy in a neighboring region) and having to deal with the pains of surviving a harsh winter without much of a city to call home (with threats including the weather, goblins raids, wolves, and a hundred smaller occurances that are starting to pile up (murders, suspicious activity, desperate people…).
